Caroline Herring, musician

Caroline Herring’s song “Black Mountain Lullaby, from her newly released CD Camilla (2012), is based on the true story of Jeremy Davidson, a child crushed to death in his bed by a rogue, half-ton boulder from a nearby mountaintop removal site in Wise County, Virginia.

Featured here is Caroline’s live, solo version of “Black Mountain Lullaby.” For more about the tragedy read Silas House’s New York Times editorial, “My Polluted Kentucky Home,” which inspired Caroline Herring to write "Black Mountain Lullaby."
