A girl with swooping bangs and earrings that swing as she shakes her mane of dark hair
Dressed in a crocheted cardigan that clings to her thin shoulders
Twists her bangled wrists in the air
Shines under fluorescent stage lights
Sways to slow, sweet music
And drinks the smokey air with hearty, hungry gulps 

 

Laurel Ruff is a sophomore at Woodford County High School in Kentucky.
