My Heart Sinks
by Keilee Mullins
when I think of you.
It runs a million miles off the cliff edge
and over the top,
it plummets into the ocean
and drowns itself,
it beats and bleeds,
then it stops
in the deepest,
darkest waters.
It waits for you,
rotting and rusting
in salt,
rolling alone on the ocean floor,
dancing in a sad
and music-less
waltz.
Will you ever come back
to collect it dear?
Will you ever
swim back to this spot?
You loved me
and then
you left me here.
two hearts dove in
and only one
made it back to the top.
