What Darkness Holds by Kathryn Weld

Things that resonate in darkness
   Doubts.
   A tripped alarm.
Things that rise in darkness
   Moon glow.
   Runoff.
   Yeast.
That linger
   Music played on water.
   Time.
   Aroma of meat.
Things that lurch in darkness
  Logic
  Boat at mooring.
  Rebels marching on Stony Point.
That bloom
   Silence.
   Phosphorescence.
   4-O’clocks.
 Depart in darkness
   Mountaineers.
   Sense.
   The last train home.
That wake
   Termites.
   Barred owl.
   Sight.
Things that arrive
   Mushrooms.
   New milk.
  The Great Comet of 1832.
That decay
   Wheelbarrow.
   Memory.
   Teeth.
Things to consign to darkness
   Mother.
   Volcanic ash.
