Victoria Bailey

Celebration

Outside and far away people
rejoice, braving the cold in honor
of their long tradition. Today is the day
the world awaits. Even the cat
is given a few extra crumbs.

Victoria Bailey has worked as a waitress, longshoreman, animal cage cleaner, meter reader, bookkeeper, and activities coordinator but considers writing poetry her real work. Her work has appeared in The Heartland Review, Pegasus, Kudzu and The Alembic as well as in the anthology Motif 3: All the Livelong Day (MotesBooks). She has lived in Kentucky for the past 25 years and is a member of Green River Writers.
