Grief by Dixie Ritchie

I grieve for a land that no longer exists.
A land torn away by tetanus ridden water.
People swept away like pieces of trash into a dustpan.
A whole city erased like graphite on paper.
New buildings stand where houses once were.
Names of people who once lived in walking distance,
engraved in stone.
I long for a world, a town I once called home.
Although my house still stands, my home is gone.
