Deborah Payne

Gravity

This silent bond
pulls our feet to the earth
keeps coffee in our cups
makes the leaves
fall in autumn and
draws me to you.

Deborah Payne is a native of Berea, Kentucky. She plays the fiddle and sings with the band Sugar Tree, a trio of women known for their dynamic harmonies. Deborah works in the field of environmental public health addressing impacts of the state’s energy policy on health.
